Rules and regulations of photographic competition „A true portrait”

3. The awards
  • - for the 1st place 500 € (2000 zł brutto)
  • - for the 2nd place 300 € (1200 zł brutto)
  • - for the 3rd place 200 € (800 zł brutto)

as well as:
30 additional awards – for the authors who received an honorable mention: reflectors, tripods, camera bags, card readers as well as medals. All photographs qualified for the second stage will be shown during the post-competition exhibition.

5. The jury

The competition’s organizers appoint a jury, members of which shall ensure the proper organization of the competition and, in particular, asses the correctness of the entries as well as of the selection of the winners. The jury comprises of:

6. The theme of the competition is restricted to portraits exclusively. The competition’s goal is to find 25 best portraits.
7. The competition includes one general section: (1) Open Colour/Monochrome.
8. Photographs must be created in formats with a resolution not bigger than 1400x1400 pixels. Images larger in any dimension will be rejected by entry software. Smaller photographs are acceptable, however, it is recommended to adjust them to the rules of the competition. File size of individual JPG image should not exceed 2MB. Each entrant may send not more than 5 works. Photographs must not include any information about the author such as water marks.
9. A participant may enter the competition only once.
10. Photographs which do not confirm to the rules and regulations of the competition will be disqualified.
11. The entry fee comes to 8 € per entry.

13. An eligible participant is the one who:
  • - filled out the entry form;
  • - submitted files compliant with the rules of the competition through our website;
  • - transferred the entry fee to a given bank account.
14. The list of all entrants, classified to take part in the competition, will be published on systematically updated website of the competition.
15. Photographers who send the images:
  • - must own the copyright of the submitted photographs and certifies the work as his own;
  • - states that the images do not infringe on third parties’ rights and is consistent with the binding law (photographs sent to the competition cannot be of an illegal, obscene, vulgar or racist nature as well as promote violence and religious discrimination or offence the general public);
  • - permits for his personal data, like name and surname, city and country of residence to be published on the competition’s website;
  • - grants the organizers free of charge, nonexclusive license to use photographs for promotional purposes on the Internet and the press;
  • - entitles the organizers to modify the photograph in a way necessary to publish it on the Internet and publications connected with the promotion of the competition.
16. Time schedule
  • - Starting date – 21 June, 2017
  • - Closing date – 12 September, 2017
  • - Judging – 13-23 September, 2017
  • - Notification – 3 October, 2017
  • - The award ceremony and the opening of the post-competition exhibition – 20 October 2017
17. The results of the competition as well as the information about the photographs accepted to be presented during the post-competition exhibition will be published on the website of the photographic competition “A true portrait”.
18. The authors of the awarded photographs, after being informed about the results, must send their works in original size to the organizer’s address so that they will be developed and exhibited.
19. The jury will notify the winners via e-mail or telephone within two days since the announcement of the results and their publication on the website of the photographic competition “A true portrait”.
20. The winners are obliged to confirm the obtainment of the information and respond to it via e-mail sending personal data required to prepare the relevant documentation.
21. The winners shall receive the award in person during the award ceremony on 25th of October. In case they cannot appear in person, the awards will be delivered by post within 30 days to a given address.
22. The winners who receive cash prizes will be responsible for paying any taxes they may owe on a prize (pursuant to Article 30 paragraph 1 subparagraph 2 of Income Tax Act).
23. Final provisions:
  • - Any questions and inquiries concerning the competition should be emailed to the organizer. In case of a compliant, one should lodge it along with detailed information, within 14 days to begin with the closing date otherwise it would be invalid. The competition organizing committee will adjust the compliant within 14 days since its lodging. The jury’s decision is final is not subject to any change and not appeal could be made against it.
  • - The organizer bears no responsibility for:
    • - any events or problems associated with the organization of the competition that could not be foreseen or prevented by the organizer;
    • - failure to deliver the award as a result of the lack of the address or incorrect data;
    • - services provided by Poczta Polska (Polish public postal service) and courier companies.
    • - The participation in the competition and submission of an entry signifies acceptance of all rules and regulations.
    • - Terms and conditions defined in the Rules and Regulations are binding and only jury is appointed to decide about the process of their interpretation and application.
    • - The organizer reserves the right to change and alter the rules and regulations of this competition in the course of the competition.
